A New Look at Acne Management Acne is sometimes viewed as an adolescent rite of passage, as common as deepening of the voice or developing curvy hips. Many women are fortunate to dodge the characteristic pimples in their youth only to face stubborn outbreaks of adult-onset acne in their 40s. Until recently, we could only prescribe a pill, with potentially dangerous side effects. Luckily, times have changed and novel therapies, such as light, laser and special skin treatments can treat teen and adult acne and their associated scarring. The light therapy (blue light) targets P.Acne bacteria and eradicates them. This approach is painless and can be used in all skin types. Photodynamic therapy uses laser IPL or Blue light with Aminolevulinic acid that facilitate the light to penetrate deeper into the skin. You can see results after 4-6 treatments as there is reduction in oil glands size and bacterial count. There are special skin treatments that help to minimize acne, reduce oil production and control acne bacteria. That include salicylic acid, Lipohydroxy acid and AcneControl line with AcneControl Supplement from Biomani Scientific SkinCare. Salicylic acid is very specific for teen acne while Lipohydroxy acid is more for adult acne. The treatments are 4 weeks apart and results are usually noticed after 3-6 treatments. AcneControl supplement fights acne from within by controlling the oil production and reducing the number of bacteria. At Acne & Anti-Aging clinic, we use the above three methods to treat acne and we achieve 80% success rate. For more information contact Dr. Fathi G.
